Full planning permission has been granted by Spelthorne Borough Council for the demolition of the existing Two Rivers public house in Church Street, Staines and the erection of a 4-storey building to provide a Use Class A3 (restaurant/café) on the ground floor and 11 flats on the upper floors.

The site is located within Staines-upon–Thames town centre, within the designated Employment Area and the Secondary Shopping Area, and the principle of redeveloping the site to provide a new commercial unit on the ground floor and 11 flats on the upper floor is considered entirely acceptable.

Whilst the site is located within the Staines Conservation Area, the existing building is not statutory Listed (nor ‘locally listed’) and there is no objection to its demolition. The Planning and Conservation officers have stated that the design and appearance of the new building is  will preserve and enhance the conservation area.
