4D Studio Architects are at the forefront of the growing UK creative media industry and are the architect for more than half a billion square feet of studio space in the sector.
Our work with the UK film and TV industry is buoyed by the rapid growth in demand for original content from broadcasters, studios and streaming services as well as continued demand for feature film content.
Film and television studio projects have been completed or are underway in both the north and south of the UK and in locations overseas.
At Elstree Film Studios we have designed and delivered the triple award winning ‘Platinum’ soundstages, together with workshops and office facilities. This project was the first major build at Elstree Studios in 25 years.
We have desiged a new state-of-the-art film studio complex in Sunderland that is set to be a new home for British film in Tyne and Wear in the north east of England. The planning application is currently being processed for the 156,000 sqm (1,665,144 sq. ft) film and television production facility, known as the Crown Works Studios that will transform the redundant former shipyards along the south bank of the River Wear into a leading global film production campus.
We have also prepared proposals for a new state-of-the-art film studio complex at Holyport in the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead. Here the planning application is currently being processed for the 137,000 sqm (1,474,668 sq. ft) film and television production facility, known as the Holyport Film Studios.
These new developments are models for the film industry that serve as a reference for the future. The design of the buildings, energy use strategy, landscape and biodiversity, have all been designed with the ambition to provide a cutting-edge, sustainable film and high-end tv production facilities.
