We were delighted, last week, to receive the news that our application for Full Planning Permission for this fine period house had received full planning consent. The house is the home of the family of the late renowned architectural photographer Martin Charles who lived there for many years.

As a result of his superb colour photography Martin was described by the editor of the Architectural Review as Europe’s finest photographer in the medium. The Martin Charles archive contains over 25,000 images which are currently being digitised by the Royal institute of British architects. They document both historical and contemporary architecture.

The house has been maintained in its original configuration and the work now proposed includes a new build side extension that will sensitively complement the original dwelling. We’d like to think that Martin would approve.
