The Glasshouse, Royal Oak Yard Bermondsey

The iconic Glasshouse is a striking development situated in Royal Oak Yard, a quiet cul de sac off Bermondsey Street, in Southwark.

It is a scheme of twelve units on three floors constructed by creatively utilising the air-rights above an existing and occupied four storey warehouse apartment block.

It comprises an attractive modern building providing office and studio/live-work units over ground and three upper floors.

The three additional floors of duplex flats in our scheme with engineer Whitby & Bird are supported on new perimeter columns and orientated towards the Thames and Tower Bridge.

With restricted access to the site ruling out much off-site prefabrication, the design exploited lightweight components that can be easily assembled on site.
