4D Studio Director Will Caradoc-Hodgkins has been spending time on a variety of projects in Majorca and the latest result is being built right now. It is a significant large historic building in the heart of Palma. Here, working with the local team of excellent consultants, an 1100 sq. m listed old merchants house with two courtyards is being restored and upgraded for client Coco Sage for whom Will also recently undertook the Fera Restaurant (click her for details)
The building’s fascinating historical past has revealed Roman artifacts below the ground and 7th century Arab work within the building. The Palma City Archaeologist is recording both the Roman and Arab work while specialist restorers have been appointed to carefully restore the 17th century painted ceilings that have also been revealed by the ongoing construction work
The building’s sympathetic makeover will include 6 bedrooms, staff accommodation, new kitchen, dining room, breakfast room, media room, gym and pool together with the usual ancillary accommodation and off-street parking.
