This iconic modern extension is part of a nineteenth century semi-detached home on a river frontage site in Putney. 4D Studio director Will Caradoc-Hodgkins worked with the team to extend the first second and third floors and to create a large basement to step the modernist new extensions down to the river in a series of terraces.

The river is the focus of the dwelling which has all its principal rooms facing the water. The river also played an important part in the construction stage of the project with construction materials transported to and waste removed from the site using barges.
